How to Better your Work Performance in 3 Ways

Has your work performance gone downhill since the turn of the year? The good news is, you are definitely not alone. There are thousands of people across the world struggling to adapt to the new challenges that comes with remote working. More good news though, there is a way to get through it, and it’s very easy to follow.

1) Identify the problem with your work performance.

The first step to improving yourself is to find out exactly where you’re going wrong. It’s crucial to be as specific as you can when it comes to finding problems in your performance. It’s easy enough to just sit there and say “my problem is that I’m working at home” but that’s too generic. In order to get out the slump you’re in you need to identify exactly what it is about working from home that you are struggling with. Is it that you don’t have a designated workspace on your home? Is it that you’re often distracted by the TV? Whatever it is, take the time to analyse exactly what you are struggling with and find a solution (set up an office space, turn off the TV, etc).

2) Find a solution and adjust your work performance accordingly

Finding out exactly what your main performance issue is the key to finding out your solution. Once you’ve found the problem, finding the solution is simple (or least it should be!). The next step trying to find a suitable goal to reach for. Using SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relative, Time-based) is traditionally considered a good method to use when defining goals. Once you’ve identified a solution to the problem and then set a goal for you to work towards, you are ready to begin your journey to success.

3) Review your progress

Once a reasonable amount of time has passed and you are fully focused on achieving your goal, you can go back and review your progress. Critical thinking is a crucial skill in the modern world and there is always room for improvement in whatever you are doing.
Whatever it is that you may be struggling with, there is always a way to solve it. No one has ever gotten through their working life without problems arising, and so long as you recognise a problem and identify a solution, you can get back to achieving success!
