Kiron Bondale

I’m reading Greg McKeown’s book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less and many of the lessons within it echo the tenth principle from the Manifesto for Agile Software Development which is “ Simplicity–the art of maximizing the amount of work not done–is essential “ In the past, I’ve mostly considered this principle as it relates to how we deliver value to our customers.

Zen Project Management

I'm on my way home after spending the week at Agile2018. It's been a great conference. I reconnected with old friends, met some new ones, and attended some great presentations. Monday's keynote was Dom Price (@domprice) from Atlassian. He shared how Atlassian tracked team health via their playbook. One interesting statistic he shared was that 78% of people don't trust their team mates. He also hit a theme that was repeated by many of the speaker; focus on outcomes, not outputs.

Transformation is More Than Just Having an Agile Checklist

Leading Agile

By now, virtually everyone has at least heard of agile and read the manifesto. Agile has finally been vetted by the early adopters and is now becoming mainstream. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard “It’s not `agile` if you aren’t doing <insert practice here>”. agile.

Is increasing agility a recurring resolution?

Kiron Bondale

As we kickoff the final week of 2018, many of us will be making New Year’s resolutions. Increasing organizational agility is a journey and not a one time goal. While some of these resolutions might relate to achieving a specific goal or objective (e.g.

Kiron Bondale

We hope that by conducting effective ceremonies we will achieve the agile trinity of improved value delivery, better quality and more fun. Each agile framework provides its own ceremonies but given that Scrum is still the most commonly referenced one, let’s focus on that framework’s events. Agile ceremonies should add value. If not, we are just adopting the form of agility with none of its substance.

What are the tipping points for your agile transformation?

Kiron Bondale

I’ve frequently said that agile transformations are marathons and not sprints. While there is no single model for how a company will progress through its agile transformation, it is a good idea for transformation teams to proactively identify tipping points where previously unique outcomes or behaviors have become commonplace. Team social pressure encourages appropriate agile behaviors without the need for sustained external coaching.
