Agile and Scrum 2022: Making It Work for You

By Team IIL
Whether you are working in an environment where just a few teams have begun using adaptive practices, or one where the entire company is years deep into Agile transformation, your organization is likely facing various implementation challenges.

These challenges often result from a lack of shared understanding. And that’s because the meaning of Agile can differ greatly between teams and departments. Developers may see it as a way to increase autonomy.

Compliance may see it as a way to reduce risk. And Leadership may see it as a way to reduce spending while increasing output. Uniting people around the value and meaning of Agile is the first challenge for any organization. Realigning to that understanding is another. And scaling Agile effectively so that the culture embraces it and makes it work is yet another.

Thankfully, there are many Agile practices, tools, and frameworks that can help. But anyone who has worked extensively with these will tell you that they are merely parts of a much bigger picture. Agile, agility, and adaptive practices are a means to an end, not the final goal.

When theory meets practice, there is no one-size fits all. Agile is ultimately about empowering people and teams to work in a way that works best for them, finding the right way for those teams to work together and creating customer value. Context matters. Organizations that are seeing success with Agile are those that adopt relevant approaches and adapt them to meet their needs.

So, what is working for companies who have adopted an Agile mindset? What challenges are they facing and how are they looking to overcome these? How are they scaling Agile throughout their organization, finding tailored solutions where needed, and creating sustainable change? And how can their stories and insights help your teams and organization? How can you make Agile work for you?
