What’s Next for Project Management: Shawn Dickerson from AtTask

September 7, 2014

I have recently noticed that there is a bit of an unrest when it comes to the field of project management. Change is in the air!

Though we have been hearing that project management and the role of the project manager are changing, it seems like this shifting has accelerated in the last few years.

We have all heard that the project manager’s job is to communicate.  My take is that communication is changing dramatically with the internet and social media.  It is inevitable that project management and the job of the project manager is feeling the reverberations.

But instead of simply guessing, I wanted to talk to someone who really is in touch with what the current trends in project manager.  So for today’s episode I invited Shawn Dickerson, the Go-To-Market director for AtTask.  According to their website, “AtTask has become the system of choice for organizations worldwide that are looking to improve how knowledge workers organize and manage work.” Their Enterprise Work Management solution intelligently combines social media techniques with traditional project management capabilities to fully engage team members in high priority productive activities while providing management teams with the information and visibility they need to optimize their resources.

Shawn is the Go-To-Market director for a company who is riding the wave of change in the world of Project Management.  If anyone in this industry knows what the trends are, Shawn is him.

Shawn has over 15 years of experience in managing projects for Fortune 1000 companies, venture-backed firms, and small startups. In his current role, he oversees the go-to-market strategy for the IT/PMO business at AtTask. Prior to AtTask, Shawn led marketing and project teams at Domo, Novell, and other tech companies.

Get Promoted or Start Your Business with Farnoosh Brock

Farnoosh Brock Cesar Abeid

Myself and lovely Farnoosh Brock in Toronto, September 2014

On this episode I also bring back my dear friend Farnoosh Brock to talk about her programs “Crack The Code To Get Promoted” and “Smart Exit Blueprint.”

“Crack the Code to Get Promoted” is a course that Farnoosh has created to unlock the secrets of moving up within a company.  Farnoosh has many years of experience in corporate America and learned the hard way the amazing content she shares with students in this program.

“Smart Exit Blueprint” is a program aimed at those trying to leave their jobs to start a business.

Both courses are fantastic, and the main reason I brought her back on the show to talk about them is that she made a few important changes.

There are now a few differences in how the courses are run, but even more importantly, she now has a payment plan, so you don’t have to pay up front for the entire program.

I know many of you reach out to me and tell me you’d like to move up in your organization, or get promoted, or leave altogether to start a business.

Farnoosh is the resource for you if you are in those situations, and I think the recent changes that she has made to her programs really make it a lot easier for you to join and enjoy.
