Harnessing the Power of Acknowledgment to Prevent Burnout: A Conversation with Judith W. Umlas

Judith W. Umlas

As we navigate the complexities of the modern workplace, one thing remains clear—the need for a supportive and appreciative environment. That’s why I am thrilled to share an episode of Beyond Autistic Burnout that delves into a topic of utmost importance: “Harnessing the Power of Acknowledgment to Prevent Burnout”.

Joining me as a special guest for this enlightening conversation is Judith Umlas, Senior Vice President at International Institute for Learning (IIL). With her wealth of experience and insight, Judy brings a fresh perspective on how the power of acknowledgment can significantly impact workplace culture, neurodiversity, and employee well-being.

The Epidemic of Burnout

As we embark on this journey, it’s essential to address the alarming rates of burnout that professionals face today. Recent studies reveal that over 77% of professionals are currently experiencing symptoms of burnout, with a staggering 89% reporting burnout within the last year. The workplace environment plays a crucial role in this epidemic, with unhealthy conditions and a lack of appreciation being prime culprits.

Unveiling the Power of Acknowledgment

We’ll explore how the Power of Acknowledgment (POA) can transform workplace dynamics, prevent burnout, and foster a culture of belonging and appreciation. From enhancing neuro- inclusion practices to increasing diversity, the POA has the potential to reshape the way we work, communicate, and thrive.

During our conversation, we’ll dive into topics such as the distinction between recognition and acknowledgement, the impact of the POA on the need for belonging, and practical insights for companies to shift towards implementing the POA in their cultures.

Empowerment Beyond the Episode

To further empower our community, I’m excited to share that we’re hosting a 30-minute Lunch and Learn Series in October. This series will provide you with additional tools and strategies to implement the Power of Acknowledgment in your organization, enhancing employee belonging and appreciation for minds of all kinds.

Join us in our streaming episode as Judy and I engage in a conversation that promises to ignite positive change and empower individuals and organizations alike. Be sure to look out for the link to register for our October Lunch and Learn Series during the show, as well as in the show notes of all streamed versions on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and major podcast platforms.

Let’s come together to harness the Power of Acknowledgment, create thriving workplaces, and pave the way for a brighter future.
