While PMI is an organization for project managers predicting the importance of their own community and you do want to take their figures in context, I do think they have a point. That’s due to: an increase in the number of jobs requiring project management-oriented skills (i.e. most knowledge work jobs as well as industries where PM has traditionally been important) higher demand due to economic growth retirement rates.
