PMI reports an expected global need for 25 million new project professionals by 2030. Many of these roles are predicted to be in software development and sub-sectors like app development, IT security and healthcare tech. PMI do accredit some degree programs. In my experience, job titles vary hugely between employers.

There are a lot of good universities that have curriculum as well as the PMI Institute that offers certification in Portfolio Management as well as Project Management.
